Heaven Official's Blessing

Image
Welcome back my wonderful weebs, this week I watched the first 3 episodes of the not-as-well-known Heaven Official's Blessing. Although this show is adapted from a Chinese novel series many consider it to be an anime. Animated by Bilibili this show is one of my personal favorites so I may be a little biased in my review. Let's get into it! Plot: Before I get into the plot I want to explain the world, in this show the things of Chinese legend are real. From gods to ghosts, to cultivators (mythical/magical martial artists) and ancient cities, everything is real. This show takes place in ancient China, where our main character Xie Lian (pronounced Shee Lee-an) ascends to heaven. His arrival is not very welcome and slightly destructive as he accidentally destroys a palace and hits a god with a bell. This also happens to be his third ascension. He was banished twice for reasons currently unknown and is a very disliked god in the heavenly realm and most mortals don't even know of

Blue Lock

Welcome back my wonderful weebs! This week I watched the first 3 episodes of the soccer anime  Blue Lock ! Before I watched this show I had already read the first two volumes of the manga and I was excited to see how they adapted it to anime form. The studio that produced  Blue Lock  is called  eightbit,  I haven't heard much about them but, I did see that they produced some more popular anime like  That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime  and  The Irregular at Magic High School . Now that we know that, let's start the review! Plot: Blue Lock  offers a unique concept, through a sort of battle royal between the top 300 high school strikers in Japan. The reason for the competition is that Japan's soccer team has never won the World Cup. So, in an attempt to fix this, they decided to produce one of the best strikers in Japan, no, in the world, through this battle royal facility. Here's the kicker (heh get it? Kicker? I know I'm hilarious), anyone who fails/gets disqu

Jujutsu Kaisen

Welcome back my wonderful weebs! This week I watched the first 3 episodes of the famous anime Jujutsu Kaisen which for the sake of my horrid ability to spell I will be referring to as JJK. This anime was produced by the very well-known studio MAPPA and was released in 2020 becoming a resounding hit in the anime community. I watched the first season around a year ago and recently just watched season 2 as it was coming out. This is one of my personal favorites, so please beware of bias in my review! Though I have to say that I was excited to look back on JJK with a more critical lens.  Plot: BEWARE Some Episode 1 Spoilers   We open up in a strange room lit only by candles and Yuji Itadori, our main character, is strapped to a chair in the middle of the room. A man wearing a blindfold tells him something shocking. He's to be executed. Earlier.......Yuji Itadori is a bit of an abnormal high school student he's inhumanly strong and quick. He is also a part of his school's O

Attack on Titan

Welcome back my wonderful weebs! This week I watched 3 episodes of the famously popular show Attack on Titan! I've heard a lot about this anime and it's been on my list of things to watch for a while now, so I was very eager to check it out! Attack on Titan was released in 2013 and was produced by both Wit Studios and Production I.G. for its first 3 seasons while studio MAPPA produced the final fourth season. Now that we know a bit about the production, let's move on to the review! Plot: In this world, humanity has been living peacefully within the three walls that surround their cities for the last 100 years. Safe from the giant titans who would hunt and devour all humans. Soon after they showed up they became an apex predator. Everyone believes that since the walls are high enough they are safe. Until one day a giant titan unlike any seen before breaks through the outermost wall and as a result, lets in a stream of titans. The Titans slaughter all in their wake. Includin

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

Image
Welcome back my wonderful weebs! This week I watched the first 3 episodes of the anime studio Madhouse's huge hit Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. This anime is rated in the number one spot of all anime on My Anime List (the IMDb of anime), so I went into this show with very high expectations. Before we begin the review, I should preface that this world is a fantasy, dungeons and dragons, medieval, type of land. Alrighty, now that we know that let's begin! Plot: The story of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End contains ideas on humanity, the shortness of life, losing those close to you, and the sadness that comes with it. It's definitely a tear-jerker. The first episode of Frieren opens up 50 years in the past with a seemingly immortal elf named Frieren and her band of companions. They had just defeated the demon king and ended their 10-year adventure. When they eventually part ways Frieren says she'll take them to a meteor shower that will show up in around 50 years.

Solo Leveling

Image
Welcome my wonderful weebs! This week I watched three episodes of an anime fresh out of A-1 studios called Solo Leveling. In fact at the time of writing this anime only has 3 episodes out! Here's a little backstory for those of you who don't know, Solo leveling began as a South Korean webcomic written by Chugong who's work  took the internet by storm. If you've ever read online comics you've probably seen or heard of Solo Leveling and if you haven't well you're about to! Plot: Without giving away too much of the show I can say the plot is intriguing and full of mystery. The world of Solo Leveling is fascinating and draws you into the show. This world includes things like gates from different dimensions filled with monsters, and hunters who have special powers and are the only ones able to defeat the monsters. Our main character Sung Jinwoo is known as the weakest of these hunters but still fights every day to try and support his hospitalized mother and his s
